The Town Hall was built c1888-1890 and behind the it is the large Market Hall both built of local Sandstone, the Market hall is the venue for events, concerts, farmers markets and many other social gatherings and can easily hold 1000 people, one of the Market Halls busiest evenings is when it is the home of the World Gurning Championships held at the end of the Egremont Crab Fair and Sports held on the 3rd Saturday each September.
