Thumbsucker (15) 96 min – Mike Mills
US 2005
It’s not easy growing up, no matter what age you are...
Justin Cobb (Lou Pucci) still sucks his thumb at 17.  He wants to stop and knows that his thumb sucking is disrupting his family, his love life and his identity.  The only thing that changes his behaviour is hypnosis therapy administered by his “guru” orthodontist (Keanu Reeves).  But while Justin felt this would solve all his problems and he would finally be “normal,” his troubles were really just beginning…
With Tilda Swinton & Vince Vaughn.
“A wonderfully delicate, humane portrait of people trying to come to terms with their insecurities.”
Time Out Chicago

“This year’s Sideways – it’s original, complex, tender, poetic and daring. It’s about the mysteries of sex and enchantment of the heart.”

OCTOBER
Junebug (15) 106 min – Phil Morrison
US 2005
Madeline is a go–getting art gallery owner from Chicago, recently married to George, a near–perfect Southern beau. When Madeline needs to close a deal with a reclusive North Carolina artist, George introduces her to his family: prickly mother Peg, taciturn father Eugene, cranky brother Johnny, and Johnny‘s pregnant, childlike wife Ashley, who is awe–struck by her glamorous sister–in–law. Madeline‘s presence exposes the fragile family dynamics as hidden resentments and anxieties surface.

 ‘…a small miracle. It’s a disarmingly delicate culture-clash comedy...’
Entertainment Weekly

‘A delectable family drama…of such sweet-natured charm that I did what I hardly ever do over the credits: sighed with satisfaction.
The Guardian
